Muscular Strength and Endurance

There is no quick fix to strength training. Like any other forms of exercise it will take 4 – 6 weeks to start to see results. It doesn’t matter what build you are it is possible for any body type to build muscle if this is what they wish.
There is also an age old myth that if a female starts a weight training programme she will end up looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is completely untrue as females only possess 10% of the testosterone that males have and this is the vital ingredient in building muscle mass. Anyone can have any body that they like with the right commitment and the right training as well as the right nutrition.
At Matt Holland Fitness, programmes start at the core of muscle fibres. First you will develop muscular stability and endurance. This is about getting the muscles active and used to being exercised in the proper form and with the proper techniques. This will give you definition or tone and you will know that your muscles are stronger but you will not bulk up at this stage. After this will come the strength work, making the muscles work the way you want them to. Finally we will work on maintaining the work done. We will also work on bringing the core (torso) muscles into play with every muscular exercise performed so in turn improving posture, core strength and weight control while at the same time working the specific muscles exercised.
If you want to go that extra step and start to build bigger muscles and bulk then we will raise the weights while at the same time keeping things nice and controlled.
Over a 12 week programme you will see the definition gradually appear but you will be in control of where you want your physique to be.
The hard part is maintaining the definition!
