At Matt Holland Fitness we specialise in Personal Training and Nutrition & Weight Management using minimal equipment to get maximum results. We will customise a programme to suit your individual needs whether it’s weight loss you’re after or strength training or if you want an all round fitness programme. We will also help you out if you want something more specific for example if you’re training for a certain sport or an event and want help maximising your sessions.

First of all you will receive your free consultation. This is a very informal chat where I can introduce myself to you and you can give me details about why you are investing in Personal Training and what specific needs you have. We will also take a few fitness tests at this time. This is nothing too daunting. We will take your blood pressure, weight and some body measurements so that we have a base to record progress from. We will also ask you to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). This is just to make us aware of any medical history and ailments that may affect you exercising. We urge you to be completely honest with this as any past medical conditions that we are not aware of may affect the progression of your programme. We will also give you an idea about what exercises you will be undertaking by giving you a short taster session. This will also give us an idea of what your exercise likes and dislikes are. We don’t believe in pushing you into doing a certain type of exercise that you’re not comfortable with.

After this we are ready to begin !

A typical session with Matt Holland Fitness lasts one hour and includes work to strengthen the body whilst at the same time reducing body fat levels and boosting energy levels. Combined with postural correction and injury prevention, these are the main reasons why personal trainers are hired.

There is always some kind of cardio-vascular training involved. This is what burns the fat and makes the heart healthier. This may involve us going out on the street or to the park for a walk or run, it may involve cycling, skipping or even boxing training. We try to make things fun while at the same time pushing you a bit harder each week so that you see results. It may also include interval training which is fantastic for fat burning. This involves mixing fast, short, intense bursts of exercise with rest periods in between. You do not require any previous experience, as I will teach you all the basics. In fact most of my clients are people who have never exercised before or not for many years.

There is always some core stability and core strength exercises involved also. This involves getting used to the gym balls and medicine balls. They are quite intimidating at first but are a lot of fun and invaluable pieces of equipment for building those important abdominal and lower back muscles. The core or trunk is the body’s engine and these are the muscles that give us our posture and are crucial for day to day activities, everything from walking to bending down to pick something up.

There will also be some weight based exercises involved to improve muscular strength and endurance. This will involve a structured programme that is customised to your goals. There is a big misconception, especially with ladies, that using weights will immediately have you looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Don’t worry ladies, I won’t have you building big muscles (unless this is what you want!) ,but it’s always nice to have that nice toned body and using small weights is the route to achieving this.

At Matt Holland Fitness I train a variety of individuals with very different goals such as fat loss, strength increase and muscle gain, posture correction. My philosophy is that anyone, given the right training and guidance can be stronger, leaner, have better posture and have less potential for injury.

Price list for One to One home based Personal Training.

1 hour Personal Training session. 1 – 4 sessions. £27.00 per session(* £30 if more than 10 miles from Chorley)
1 hour Personal Training session x 5 session block. £130.00 (* £140)
1 hour Personal Training session x 10 session block £250.00 (* £270)
1 hour Personal Training session. 20 session block (plus an extra session free). £450.00 (* £480)

*Please note that my private studio training sessions are charged at £30.00 per hour long session. This includes the surcharge for exclusive use of the studio.

Anyone from outside the Chorley area is more than welcome to use our training services but please note that the asterixed prices will apply due to higher fuel costs. We cover all areas in Central/South Lancashire including Chorley, Preston, Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton, Ormskirk, Southport, North Manchester and North Merseyside.
