About Matt
Hi, I’m Matt Holland. I’m a Lancashire based Personal Trainer. I am 40 years old and have been in the fitness industry for well over 4 years.
After living in New York for 11 years I decided to move back to the UK in 2007. One of the major factors in me moving home was that I decided it was time for me to change the unhealthy lifestyle of fast food and alcohol that I had become accustomed to. I started exercising 3-4 times a week and also eating more healthily. Slowly but surely the excess fat that I had gained in New York started to drop off. After 7 months of hard work I had dropped from nearly 22 stone to 13 ½ stone. At the time I was also an unskilled worker so deciding where my professional life was headed was a bit of a no brainer!
It is now my goal to help as many people as possible, children to adults, with all different ailments, injuries and needs to pursue and achieve their health and fitness goals.
I specialise in :
- Weight loss
- Nutrition & weight management
- Posture & spinal alignment
- Flexibility
- Functional fitness
- Muscle gain
- Sports conditioning
I am a qualified Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer as well as being qualified in Circuit Training, Muscular Strength Training, Nutrition & Weight Management, Core Stability/Core Strength and Posture Alignment. I am also a Boxercise PT coach and a Level 1 RFL accredited Rugby League coach. I am currently studying for a GP Exercise Referral Diploma which will open up further doors and opportunities to work with special populations.
I am listed on The Register of Exercise Professionals (www.exerciseregister.org) and the National Register of Personal Trainers (www.nrpt.co.uk) which are the gold standard for exercise in the UK. I am fully insured and have a fully Enhanced CRB check enabling me to work with children and vulnerable individuals (please also see schools page and articles).
My interests include movies, travel, music and virtually any sports. My main fitness interests are going to the gym, running, weights and climbing.
Here is a picture of me when I was at my unhealthiest.
